Genetic mutation was detected in eight A(H1N1) flu patients on the Chinese mainland, an official with the Chinese National Influenza Center said Wednesday.

Shu Yuelong, director of the center, said that the mutated virus was not resistant to drugs and could be prevented through vaccines.

The Ministry of Health said that 89.8 percent of flu cases reported between November 16 and 22 were A(H1N1) cases, compared with 89.4 percent the week earlier.
