Baby snatcher foiled

A 23-year-old woman, who had undergone a hysterectomy of womb and yearned for a baby, pretended to be pregnant from the beginning of this year and roamed hospital maternity wards recently looking for an infant to steal in Xingtang county, Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province.

The women surnamed Yan had tied towels around her belly to simulate a pregnancy and finally she sneaked into the maternity ward of the county hospital to take away a 3-day infant girl while the girl's parents were asleep on October 23.

After they received the report, local government and police paid special attention to the case and dispatched experienced detectives to investigate. They finally located the suspect hobbling and wearing a black jacket in the hospital several times before her arrest.

On November 1, police rushed into Yan's home to capture Yan and release the baby girl.
