A micro-blog played a large role in saving the life of a 93-year-old woman surnamed Xiao in Chengdu, Sichuan Province on March 2.

Xiao, with a rare blood type of RH-AB (also known in China as "panda's blood") had broken her left leg and needed surgery and extra blood to save her life. The hospital had no RH-AB blood, but the daughter of Xiao's hospital roommate, surnamed Cai, posted a plea for donors on her sina.com micro-blog.

It resulted in enough responses that Xiao's surgery was successful.

"I didn't expect my blog would bring so much 'warm hearted' blood," said Cai.
