Devil City is reputed as the number one scenic spot in Xinjiang for its stunning Yar-dang landscape. Located in the vast Hashun Gobi, southwest of Kumul, 110 kilometers (68 miles) northeast of Karamay, Devil City features a unique natural scenery of hills and valleys. When it is windy in spring and autumn, the rock formations will make a sound like whistles, hence its name, Devil City.
