1. Beijing– Yinchuan City in Gansu Province
Start from Beijing and drive along the Badaling Expressway and Beijing-Zhangjiakou Expressway to reach Zhangjiakou City in Hebei Province. Then go westward along the Badaling Expressway to reach Baotou City in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Stay in Baotou City for the night. On the next day, continue going along the Badaling Expressway and get off at Linhe district to get to Yinchuan City in Gansu Province.
2. Yinchuan City in Gansu Province – Barkol Region in Xinjiang
Start from Yinchuan City and drive westward to pass through Zhongning City, Zhongwei City and Wuwei City in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Then you finally will arrive at Zhangye City located in far western Gansu Province. Turn into the No.312 National Highway to get to Jiayuguan Pass, and then Yumen Pass and Hami City in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Turn into the No. 303 Provincial Highway to head for Barkol Region in Xinjiang and you can visit Barkol Lake [Click to see photos...].
3. Barkol Region in Xinjiang – Kanas Lake in Xinjiang
Begin your journey from Barkol Region and drive along the No. 303 Provincial Highway to reach Qitai County. Then go northwestward to arrive at Kurt Township and then turn into the No. 324 Provincial Highway to head for Dure Township. Start from Dure Township to the direction of Fuhai County. When you pass Beitun County, turn into the No. 217 National Highway to reach Burqin County. Then turn into the No. 227 Provincial Highway to head for Kanas Lake [Click to see photos...].
4. Kanas Lake in Xinjiang – Sailimu Lake in Xinjiang
After traveling around Kanas Lake, return to Burqin County, then drive southward along the No. 217 National Highway to arrive at the next intriguing tourist destination – Devil City [Click to see photos...]. Continue driving along the No. 217 National Highway southward to reach Karamay City and then turn into the No. 312 National Highway to Sailimu Lake [Click to see photos...] for the next stop.
5. Sailimu Lake in Xinjiang – Xingxingxia Passage in Xinjiang
Leave Sailimu Lake and drive along the No. 312 National Highway and then onto the No. 218 National Highway to head for the direction of Yining City in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Continue driving eastward to Narat Pastureland and then turn into the No. 217 National Highway to head for Bayinbuluke Grassland. Then drive along the No. 218 National Highway to reach Baluntai Town and then turn into No. 216 National Highway to head for Urumqi City. From Urumqi, you can get onto the No. 312 National Highway to reach Hami Prefecture and then drive eastward to head for the Xingxingxia Passage [Click to see photos...].
