Trends: World Famous Mountains Association sets headquarters on Mt. Lushan

The First China Mt. Lushan World Famous Mountains Conference was held October 13 on Lushan Mountain in Jiangxi Province. The conference announced the Mt. Lushan Manifesto and set its headquarters on Mt. Lushan.
More than 200 distinguished guests from home and abroad attended the conference including representatives from 12 world-famous mountains in 10 countries, such as Mt. Lushan and Mt Taishan of China, Mt. Hood of the US, the European Mountains Association, Mt. Gambier of Australia, Eisenwurzen Geo-park of Austria, Araripe Geopark of Brazil, Bergstasse Odenwald Global Geopark of Germany, Mt. Chocolate from the Philippines, Mt. Covasna and Mt. Gaina From Romania, Mt. Table from South Africa, and Mt. Kilimanjaro of Tanzania. Moreover, officials from embassies of 10 countries in China, officials from the Beijing Office of UNESCO, representatives from many travel agencies and 119 journalists from 78 domestic and foreign media were at the conference.
According to the decisions and agreements of the conference, the World Famous Mountains Conference will be held annually at its headquarters at Mt. Lushan, and the mountain will also provide a platform for communication among the representatives of world famous mountains in terms of exchange, cooperation and preservation in order to promote mountain tourism.
Mt. Lushan was highly prised by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, saying, "With its peculiar style in historic remains, which is melted with remarkable natural beauty, Mt Lushan has formed a highly aesthetically-valued cultural view closely relevant to the sprit of the Chinese people and their cultural life."
